At the beginning of the month RVCA came to town with Josh Harmony, Jeremy Leabres, Julian Davidson and TM Austin Stephens to kick off our month long residency in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. We started things off in the shop on Friday March 1st with an art show featuring the amazing works of Josh Harmony. Josh is an amazing dude on and off the board and it was great to get to know him more personally, all of us here at KCDC being big fans of his skateboarding. His art will be on display through the end of March so come check it out for yourself!
On Saturday night we kicked off our weekly skate night with an all out skate jam on a mini ramp built by Pat Smith inside the "Skate Space, our temporary local warehouse space in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Our friends and female fronted skate rock band, Witch Slap, played a set and DJ Trashman provided us all the classic tunes to keep the energy high. Everyone killed it and as per usual the ramp got hectic as we saw insane tricks go down as well as doubles, triples and even quadruples!
Sunday morning we rounded up the weekend with an all age skate clinic taught by Omar from BBSC (Broken Bones Skateboard Club). All skill levels were present and it was great to see kids drop in for the first time and learn something new. They were all killing it!
Big THANK YOU to everyone who came out and supported, we hope you all had a killer time! Thank you to Budweiser, Babe Rose and Healthade Kombucha for providing beverages as well as everyone who volunteered their time and services to make this all happen! Stay tuned for more updates and recaps as the month progresses. If you'd like to sign up for the last 2 clinics of this month, 3/17 & 3/24 send an email to caferivera@gmail.com! Clinics are from 11am to 3pm.
